Fiesta for the Future

  • The Sulgrave Regency Ballroom 200 West 49 Street Kansas City, MO, 64112 United States (map)

At KC Can Compost, we believe that a thriving, sustainable future starts with investing in people—because when individuals are empowered, entire communities flourish.

Every day, we tackle two major challenges: food waste and economic injustice. Through our food waste collection program, we divert millions of pounds of organic waste from landfills, turning it into nutrient-rich compost that supports local green spaces, urban farms, and environmental restoration. At the same time, through our Green Core Training (GCT) program, we provide environmental literacy and workforce training to individuals facing barriers to employment—helping them break cycles of poverty, unemployment, and recidivism while preparing them for meaningful careers in the green economy.

More than 250 students have completed our program—each with their own journey, yet all united by a desire to create lasting change. Whether overcoming financial hardship, re-entering the workforce after incarceration, or seeking new skills, our students leave with certifications, confidence, and opportunities for sustainable employment.

But we need your help. As a nonprofit, our work depends on grants, donors, and champions like you. That’s why we invite you to join us for Fiesta for the Future—an evening dedicated to celebrating the planet, our community, and the power of collective action.

This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s a chance to stand with us in our mission to educate, empower, and drive sustainability forward.

Enjoy traditional Mariachi music, incredible food and cocktails, and the company of others who share a vision for a cleaner, more equitable future.

Your support ensures that more individuals can gain the skills they need to build a stable future while keeping food waste out of landfills and protecting our environment. Together, we can turn waste into opportunity, invest in people, and create a more just, sustainable Kansas City.
