Green Core Training
Environmental Literacy, Green Jobs, & Work Readiness Training
KC Can Compost’s Green Core Training (GCT) is an environmental literacy, workplace readiness, and green jobs training program which develops the local workforce, helps build community, and changes how people interact with their environment. The GCT serves people who are interested in working in the green economy.
The GCT uses the Roots of Success curriculum and a nontraditional education method called popular education, which generates knowledge from within the community, allowing people to reflect deeply upon their own experiences, their collective vision for improvement, and their place in creating positive social and environmental change.
GCT students learn about more than 100 different environmental jobs and career pathways and, upon graduation, receive assistance in finding green employment.

Upon completion of coursework, students earn an Environmental Literacy Certificate from Roots of Success
Students who complete all 10 Roots of Success modules are eligible for a Department of Labor designation as an Environmental Specialist
